Above is my homemade QSL Card. It is a Microsoft Word Form, allowing me to change the Rig, Power, and Antenna, as well as fill in all the QSO information. I work mostly digital modes, with PSK-31 and 15 and 20 meters my favorites. Here is a copy of the form template, if you want to make your own card.

Here is the easiest to understand paper I have ever read on Antenna Basics. It is old now, but the info is still pertinent. It is called "The Easy Way".
In June and July of 2001 I sent QSL cards via eQSL, as well as regular direct mail and Buro. Here are the eQSL cards I have received ( Also shown is the Email QSL card I got from K8CHE which shows what my signal looks like. Neat!). I have uploaded 324 mostly digital QSLs to eQSL (about 50-50 DX and US), but only 160 were for members of eQSL. I have gotten 77 eQSLs back by 7/31 (24% overall, 48% from members of eQSL, who are of course the only ones who get the eQSL cards) so this method works faster for DX cards than regular QSLing, but I was actually expecting 100% back from members. In this same period I have gotten 72 cards (22%, 1 DX and the rest US) back in the mail. I am not sure this experiment proves much, other that even the people who signed up for eQSL are not too serious about using it. I am sure this will change when ARRL makes their "Logbook of the World" available. Here is my log for June. I got more active in July.
See if you have any eQSL's waiting for you from anyone by entering your callsign below:

My previous calls have been KG2LB, K3ZLH, WA2QBN, and WA6NZH (issued in 1960).
K4MG's previous holder was LEONIDAS R. WRIGHT (SK). He was a 10-10 member, a member of the GERATOL Net, and a member of the OOTC club. If anyone has any other info, please email me.
I just received this email. Thanks very much, K4TO!:
From: "Dave Sublette"(email address removed because of spam concerns) To: <removed because of spam concerns> Subject: Your Callsign Date: Saturday, June 23, 2007 6:20 PM Hello Barry, I happened to look at your website and see that you asked for any additional info about the previous holder of your callsign, K4MG. Lee Wright, his wife Sally, and his daughter, whose name slips my mind, lived in Huntsville, Alabama. Lee was a retired Navy officer, having retired at the rank of Commander, I believe. Lee was a good friend and fellow member of the North Alabama DX Club. I used to see him often at the monthly meetings and have visited he and his family in their home many times. Lee was a soft-spoken gentleman. It was a pleasure and a joy to have him for a friend. He died of Cancer in the late 80's. I was out of the country at the time and was unable to attend his funeral. I lived in Huntsville from 1974 through most of 1983. In November of 1983 my family and I moved to Kwajalein in the Republic of the Marshall Islands. There I operated as KX6DS for five and a half years. I made 83000 QSOs on all bands from 160 through 2 meters. I can't remember any other details about Lee, but you have a wonderful callsign now and I'm sure Lee would be pleased to know that K4MG continues to be used on the air. 73, Dave Sublette, K4TO Winchester, KY
In a follow up email dated 6/25/2007, K4TO added: I should have added that Lee used the phonetics "Mother Goose" for his call.
